⚙️ Innovators change the world
Rarely do people invent things anymore. In the modern era, it’s the innovators who change the world
In 1979, Steve Jobs visited the Xero Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). At the time, the company had been working on the Alto computer, which featured an unique graphical user interface.
Job was so inspired upon seeing this that he would go on to create a similar interface for Apple’s own Lisa and Macintosh computers.
This type of point and click interface is still used today, but most wouldn’t give credit to Xerox PARC for its invention.
In fact, Xerox PARC is rarely recognized for their creations that would go on to drive the future of computing.
It took innovators like Jobs and Bill Gates to bring the technology into offices and households around the world.
History shows us that other innovators like Thomas Edison — who didn’t actually invent the technology behind the lightbulb — improved existing technology and made it mainstream.
Rarely do people invent things anymore. They innovate1. We’ve been seeing this for decades with computers, cars, and household appliances. And this trend is unlikely to change anytime soon.
In the modern era, it’s the innovators who change the world.
If you think about it, the iPhone wasn’t even an invention, but a redesign of existing chips, screens, and technology.
